The Issues Dennis Believes in

Protecting Healthcare Access

Investing in Education & Safe Schools

Managing Smart Growth, Local Control

Access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare is fundamental to strong families and thriving communities. Too many North Carolinians are delaying care because of rising costs, provider shortages, or political interference in personal medical decisions.

I will work to:

  • Protect and expand access to affordable coverage by strengthening Medicaid expansion and ensuring rural hospitals and local providers remain open and funded.

  • Lower out-of-pocket costs by addressing prescription drug pricing, insurance premium hikes, and surprise medical billing, all especially important for teachers, state employees, and retirees.

  • Protect reproductive healthcare access by opposing further restrictions on abortion, working to restore access beyond the current 12-week ban, and ensuring women, not politicians, make personal medical decisions in consultation with their doctors.

  • Strengthen maternal and senior healthcare services, recognizing the needs of both young families and our growing retiree population.

  • Support healthcare professionals, including fair pay and workforce recruitment programs to address provider shortages in growing communities.

Public education is the backbone of opportunity in North Carolina. Taxpayer dollars should strengthen neighborhood schools,  not be diverted to private vouchers. Every child deserves a safe classroom, strong teachers, and the resources needed to succeed.

I will work to:

  • Fully fund public education and oppose expanding voucher programs that take money away from public classrooms.

  • Increase teacher and school staff pay, helping North Carolina recruit and retain strong educators.

  • Keep guns out of schools by supporting universal background checks, red flag laws, and safe storage requirements.

  • Invest in safe school infrastructure and student resources, ensuring students learn in secure, well-equipped environments.

Growth in Brunswick County and across North Carolina must be thoughtful and sustainable. Development should improve quality of life,  not overwhelm infrastructure or erase the character of our communities.

I will work to:

  • Keep zoning and land-use decisions local, ensuring communities, not Raleigh politicians,  guide development.

  • Require infrastructure to keep pace with growth, including roads, schools, emergency services, stormwater systems, and evacuation planning.

  • Protect trees, wetlands, and natural buffers, preserving the coastal character and environmental protections that define Brunswick County.

  • Increase transparency in development decisions, limiting the influence of special interests and prioritizing residents over outside developers.

Cleaning up Our Water

Making Life More Affordable

Clean, safe water is not optional , it’s essential for public health, tourism, fishing, and the coastal economy.

I will work to:

  • Strengthen protections against PFAS and toxic contaminants in drinking water.

  • Invest in modern water and wastewater infrastructure, preventing runoff and contamination.

  • Hold polluters accountable and defend environmental standards from rollback efforts.

  • Protect our rivers, marshes, and coastline, ensuring long-term sustainability for future generations.

Families are feeling squeezed by rising grocery prices, housing costs, insurance premiums, and transportation expenses. Government should work to ease burdens — not add to them.

I will work to:

  • Prioritize middle-class tax relief, not tax breaks for special interests.

  • Address housing affordability, encouraging responsible development that includes workforce housing, not just high-end projects.

  • Oppose unnecessary tolls and hidden fees that burden commuters and working families.

  • Lower everyday costs through responsible state budgeting, protecting funding for public services while opposing wasteful spending and corporate giveaways that don’t benefit local families.

  • Fight rising property insurance rates, pushing for transparency and accountability in rate-setting to protect homeowners from unchecked premium increases.
